This project was a three phase renovation of the former Zona Mexicana restaurant located in the B terminal of Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. AHSa was contracted to renovate and update the 10-year-old facility to take on the look of a modern Mexican hacienda. In the process of the renovations AHSa expanded and updated the kitchen, bar and dining areas including adding new food and beverage service equipment and new storage facilities. Phase I of the project involved the buildout of a new lower level storage area to house dry storage, a new walk-in storage and new beverage systems. Phase II of the construction expanded the kitchen area to provide new dishwashing facilities and additional storage areas. Phase III consisted of a complete renovation of the dining areas and bars as well as alterations to the existing cook lines. Once the construction was complete AHSa fitted the restaurant and bar with new finishes, lighting, artwork, televisions and furniture in the dining and bar areas, improving the atmosphere and adding an additional 25 seats. During the several month construction schedule, the restaurant remained open and operating with the exception of a 30-day time period for Phase III work.
