Race Pace contracted AHSa to convert a historic 1920 heavy timber structure originally used as a Railroad Depot & Freight Warehouse into a modern day retail center for Race Pace Bicycles. Race Pace was looking to transform the building into a sleek modern bicycle shop without losing the historic attributes. AHSa created a design that included a blend of past and present. Core building upgrades include an accessible ramp and entrance, accessible bathrooms, insulated storefront glazing, improved thermal envelope with new vertical metal siding, and energy efficient lighting and HVAC equipment. For the interior finishes AHSa exposed the heavy timber structure, and used poured in place concrete countertops, the floor is a combination of recycled rubber flooring, and hickory flooring for durability, giving the building a balanced feel of historic and modern.
